One hundred and thirty days in Tromsø
"we never learned to use a compass, we never learned to read these maps, we always yearned for far-off countries, we never found a straight way back... and it’s a miracle... a miracle... ...we found true north - True North..." (Tina Dico)

day 10
hiking on Kvaløya.
Everything started out with five girls, eager to go hiking on the beautiful island of Kvaløya. The plan was to try and find Kaldfjord, supposedly an amazing place... What a wonderful day it was to take a hike, too! Little did the girls know what they were getting into...
:)
dreamy...
♥!!! :)
Kaldfjord and Kjosen...
...actually, it is not possible to picture or describe what we went through on the way down the mountain... the cherry on top was the descent through a creek - yes, there was water in it, yes, it was VERY steep, and no, none of us had climbing gear...
(and yes, that's people up there in the picture...)
lesson number three: NEVER EVER just "decide" to start your descent in a place that you think is "practical"!!! look for paths. or even better: carefully study a hiking map BEFORE you start!! :) :)
...on the way home...
another funny bus stop. :)
Kvaløysletta evening skies... ♥
...All in all, our hiking trip took about seven hours and when we got home, we were pretty much toast. But I have to admit - it was an amazing adventure and we definitely have a pretty interesting story to tell! ;) It probably would have been a good idea to take a look on a hiking map first... On the other hand - we would have missed out on a huuge adventure! Cross country hiking on Kvaløya: fun, exciting and a really great experience - but obviously only for very brave people! :) :)

Kvaløysletta, the beginning of our hiking adventure...
originally, we planned to go AROUND the mountains... but... well...
lesson number one: wherever you go around Tromsø - you can't walk around the mountains, you have to walk OVER them... which ALWAYS means: serious climbing!!
lesson number two: the view is always worth the climbing!

...the beautiful skies of Kvaløya...

Kaldfjord and Kjosen...
last looks.
...
...and this was the moment when we decided to go down in a place we thought would be "practical" for us... the mountain (as we quickly found out) obviously did not like that very much...

we came from there...somewhere...wherever... no idea.
